Does it depend on how bad your teeth are for the years of braces?

I was just wondering because i had a doctor appointment today & they said i might need braces. My teeth aren’t bad they just overbite. Or does it depends on how well you want your teeth to be straightend?

They will estimate a treatment plan at an Ortho assessment. Braces are normally on for 18-24 months.
